Hybrid and electric vehicle technology course provides students to the knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicles, and also teaches the principles of operation of vehicles. In this course, students learn technical drawing and design program. The aim of this course is to introduce students to power train.Hybrid electric vehicles are powered by an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors, which uses energy stored in batteries. A hybrid electric vehicle cannot be plugged in to charge the battery. Instead, the battery is charged through regenerative braking and by the internal combustion engine. There are three main types of hybrid vehicle; full hybrids, mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids. A full hybrid (FHEV) can run on just the combustion engine (i.e. diesel/petrol), the electric engine (i.e. power from batteries), or a combination. They combine an electric drive system and an internal combustion engine. This means that the vehicles can drive further than pure electric cars, and they consume less gasoline or diesel than vehicles running solely with an internal combustion engine.Hybrid is an advanced technology that helps increase fuel efficiency and enhances driving performance. The engine automatically stops when idle and silently starts when the optimal conditions are met in manual and automatic transmissions. It comes with a dual battery setup including a Lithium Ion Battery.A hybrid car is one that uses two engines to generate power: an old-fashioned internal combustion engine and an electric engineWhen compared to conventional vehicles, hybrids offer better power and fuel efficiency as they combine the benefits of high fuel efficiency and low emissions. When hybrid vehicles are cruising or while braking, the result is excess power which is used to charge the batteriesThe Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Course will develop your skills around hybrid technology vehicles. You will focus on hybrid & electric safety, operation principles, series & parallel, motor assisted systems, extended range hybrids, electric vehicle operation, servicing & maintenance and diagnostics.
On completion technicians will be able to practically demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills required for repairing vehicles with high voltage hybrid technologies.
This fast track route is ideal for for technicians who maintain, service and repair Hybrid or electric vehicles and have a good background knowledge.
