Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.Courses are offered over one academic year, during summer vacations or in study modules according to the format approved by the AMI Scientific Pedagogy Group. The course programmes include lectures, seminars, reading sessions covering Montessori philosophy, child development, and information on the presentation of Montessori materials. This training course in “Montessori Educational Method” aims to develop in students professional competences as future teachers of the Montessori Method to children from 1/2 to 13 years of age. Students will learn more about Montessori, approaches to providing a Montessori inspired learning environment and how to use her methods and techniques. This course includes practical lessons, seminars, field works, thinking tools, cultural visits, technical visits, conferences with experts. Many practical tools and materials both for trainers and trainees will be supplied and at the end certificates will be delivered, as requested in Erasmus Plus Programme.
In the framework of Erasmus Plus Programme, we are going to develop our courses based in both formal and informal education methodologies. We’ll start with an introduction of the new methodology and also with a theoretical approach. In order to stimulate the active participation of them we will use dynamic activities, like:
Conferences with responsible staff of enterprises;
Discussions in the classroom with directors of private institutes;
Technical visits in private companies for job shadowing and workshops.
Observing Finnish Education System and application of Montessori in Finnish Education Model.
Each course also includes significant components of observation and teaching practice, supervised practice using Montessori didactic materials, classroom material making, and preparation of individual classroom manuals.
The courses offered by AMI prepare adults to work with children at the following levels:
Assistants to Infancy (0-3)
Primary/Casa dei Bambini/Children’s House (3-6)
First Plane (0-6)
