This course introduces the student to the theory of writing conflict-free machine shorthand outlines. The alphabet, briefs and phrases and fingering exercises will be taught. The student will develop the ability to write words, sentences and paragraphs on the Stenograph machine through daily dictation and drills.
This course is intended to give newcomers the practical shorthand skills they’ll need on the job, particularly in the public sector. With this training, the student will be prepared to take dictation and fulfill his professional obligations. Shorthand approaches are based on assigning a single-word outline and need a significant amount of time to recall tens of thousands of outlines. For many shorthand sketches, diligent daily practice is necessary to retain all the symbols that must be recalled. It might be able to explain the laws of shorthand to you based on the size and thickness of the symbols. Thanks to this education, those who already understand it will be able to use it more swiftly and precisely. Training and gaining speed are difficult. In comparison to writing in natural language, shorthand writing is an abbreviated form of symbolic writing that speeds up and condenses writing. The term “stenography” is used to characterize the condensed writing style.
Shorthand is a lifelong personal skill which relieves one from the drudgery of writing longhand. Shorthand makes it possible for most people to write three to four times faster than in their longhand speed. It aims for a thorough knowledge, understanding, and correct application of the fundamental rules through reading, writing, and transcribing of shorthand notes. Shorthand is something of tremendous value, but it can only be acquired through reasonable and honest effort.
